A Time to Celebrate

This past Summer, our family celebrated five years in San Felipe. It seems just like yesterday that we packed up the vehicles and moved our entire life to serve our Lord here at 99plus1 Ministries.

At that time, our oldest, Ian was 15, Josh 12, Caleb 9, and Olivia was 2 years old. Now, Ian is 20 and at Calvary Bible Institute in Ensenada, Josh is 17 and a senior in High School, Caleb is 14 and has blossomed into a young man, Olivia is the princess of the house at 8 years old, and as of December 23, 2024, we have a new member of our home, our adopted daughter, Rubí, who is 14.

Many things change over the years, but one thing that has not, is the very strong conviction that we are right in the middle of God's will here serving in San Felipe.

We love serving this community, this ministry, and those who come a visit.

All glory to God!

The Mission House

This later half of the year is shaping up to be the busiest we've been since arriving, and it truly has been a blessing. To serve alongside the teams that come to serve and bless the various churches, ministries, and people of this community brings great joy.

In July, we had our annual visit from El Refugio from Ensenada. This is a young girls shelter who brings the girls over for a time of vacation and serving, where they can. This year they put together a outreach for the children of the community.

In September we had long-time friends of 99plus1 visit us from Maine. They a group comprised of multiple churches who have poured out their hearts for this community over so many years. We pray the Lord bring them home safe, and that they are able to return soon.

This trip, they served in various ways:

an elderly woman, Eva, and her daughter Claudia by installing a roof.

Nueva Canción, a Christian men’s rehabilitation center, they painted their dinning hall and washroom, as well as served them a meal.

Sonshine Hacienda, our local orphanage, by doing some gardening/landscape work, installing and fixing electrical, and serving up some Sundae’s.

Some of the women went and shared a testimony and provided a meal. And,

Here at 99plus1, they worked on the building that will become our Under His Wings ministry.

It was a week full of blessings!!

In October, a group of students from Calvary Bible Institute joined us for a week. Not since 2021 had they come for the week. While their weekend trips are always special, it's even more special when we have them for the week.

It is always a blessing to have these young men and women with us, serving with a heart for the Lord.

This trip they:

  • San Felipe Mission Church: Lead worship for our Spanish language service.San Felipe Mission Church: Lead worship for our Spanish language service.

  • 99plus1: Painted the rooms of our senior residents of the Serenity House and installed the walls in the Under His Wings women’s home.

  • Nueva Cancion: waterproofed the roof of a home and the detox center.

  • Sonshine Hacienda: various work projects during the day, and evening devotionals with the kids

  • CIDA: worshiped and preached the word at this men’s rehab

  • Voluntarios Sin Limites: Ministered to the women of this rehab .

Under His Wings

Thanks to the Lord, we are making great progress on the necessary renovations, and still are prayerfully hopeful to have this open and ready to receive its first residents by the end of the year.

The Lord has provided funds through a couple of donors for us to make these renovations possible, and will continue to look to the Lord to provide for the costs beyond these renovations.

The team from Maine were very helpful in inspecting and making necessary repairs to the electrical throughout the home. They also installed the electrical hook-up for the RV, as well as installed exterior lighting.

The students from the Bible College worked with our staff facilities person to install the walls to create two bedrooms inside.

All that is left, for the first phase, is to add a shower in the existing bathroom, install two windows in one of the bedrooms, and then furnish the two rooms.

The Serenity House

Oscar and Cesar continue to be a blessing to those men who have crossed our threshold. Currently, we only have three men with us. We had four for a while, but one was able to reconnect to his family and this past weekend moved in with his daughter.

Perhaps for those who are new to following us, and this ministry, The Serenity House is a full-time home for senior men. These are typically men who have no family, no means to sustain themselves, whether that be by work or by retirement, and who are in grave need of a home.

The Serenity House is fully funded by supporters of this ministry; we receive no help from the State.

Earlier this year, Oscar and Cesar have been bringing the men of the Serenity House to worship our Lord together in the church. We don't force them to attend church, but for the love of Christ in Oscar and Cesar, in constantly ministering to them and speaking with them about the Lord, the men have expressed interest in attending church with us.

Keep them in your prayers. Their names are, José, Juan, Esteban, and Elín (who just left to be with his daughter.

Prayer Requests & Needs

Prayer Requests

Continued prayer for the ministry as a whole, our staff, and all who cross our threshold.

Continued prayer for Under His Wings ministry. That the Lord give us the wisdom in how to properly manage this ministry, and that we can finalize the necessary renovations to open.

Support

If you have been blessed by 99plus1 Ministries and would like to support the work we do in San Felipe, we would be ever grateful if you'd consider donating on a monthly basis.

Your support helps in providing for those Seniors entrusted to our care in the Serenity House and the Senior Community Center, gives us the ability to bless others in the community through various means, to provide adequate compensation for our staff who faithfully serves this ministry, among other things.

Thank you and God bless!
