2009 Christmas Newsletter

99 Plus 1 – 2009 CHRISTmas Newsletter

This year one of our teams, Faith Community Fellowship of Mt. Vernon, WA, brought down a teaching program about the advent calendar.  The advent calendar is not normally used in Mexico, in part because of the dates used by the Catholic Church such as the Day of Conception and the Day of the Virgin Mary, etc.  These dates are not accepted in the protestant (evangelical) churches of Mexico.  But the program brought down focused so much on the Old Testament promises of God for the coming of a Savior that it was readily accept by the participating churches.  What a wonderful advantage we have living in the time frame after the coming (advent) of the Jesus Christ over those living in Old Testament days.  We can not only see the promises themselves, but the promises fulfilled in the coming of “The Christ”.  What a comfort we have seeing God’s promises fulfilled not only in Christ, but since Christ.
In our ministry we have seen God working through the answered prayer for additional staff.  God has sent; Alfonso Palacio, Paul and Donna Korneliussen, and Erna Walker to 99 Plus 1.  Because of the additional staff, God has opened up the doors for the “Casa de Serenidad”, a respite for older men without family or without a supportive family.  God was able to expand 99 Plus 1 without closing other doors of ongoing efforts such as the “Sonshine Hacienda” orphanage construction.  God has continued to bless the relationships with other Christian Ministries here in Baja such as the men’s’ rehabilitation center “Nueva Canción’ and the women’s’ rehabilitation center “FAMA” and the various levels of relationships with many churches of Baja California.  God continues to fill his promises today as He did over 2000 years ago.
This CHRISTmas season, rejoice with us in God fulfillment of promises not only at 99 Plus 1 but in each of our personal lives as well.  After a bit of a concern God allowed us to see biopsy results on Bonnie’s thyroid that were negative for cancer.  He continues to sustain us and watch over us with our all too frequent travels for ministry purposes and medical appointments.
Of course, we are well aware that it would have been more difficult to remain faithful and see the completed promises if it was not for your continued participation with us.  We so much covet your continued prayer for us individually and for the Lord’s guidance and watch care over His ministry.
