Our Story
Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine… and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?…. I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. Luke 15:4-7
Our Origins
99+1 Ministries is from a vision that formed as a result of an evangelical encounter which took place near San Felipe, Mexico. One day before conducting a Vacation Bible School in 1998, a group of three young men were talking to Adrian Garcia Luciano. One in particular had many questions about Jesus Christ. Adrian invited the young men to return the next day.
None of the young men returned the following day. On the second day, two of the boys returned. The one with most of the questions was nowhere to be found. Upon inquiry, Adrian found that the young man had been killed by a car while riding home on his bicycle that first day. Did we miss the opportunity to share Christ with him? Was he saved? Were we so busy doing “the Lord’s work” that we didn’t do the Lord’s work? Only God knows!
It has compelled us at 99+1 to take advantage of every possible opportunity to proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom of God. This includes preparing more effective and passionate Christian workers to fulfill the Great Commission, in addition to working with the children to whom we had been ministering.
