Pioneer Bible Church Welcomes in the New Year in San Felipe

99 Plus 1 was pleased to have the Pioneer Bible Church welcome in the new year in San Felipe. It was 1 year ago that this team delayed their return home by a day in order to pour the floor for the Serenity House. This year the Lord allowed them to begin the trimming out of the second floor. While part of the team worked on the trimming out, the rest undertook the task of putting down a new layer of roofing material on the original mission house. It had developed leaks in several places and was long overdue. As well the roof over the group kitchen, which has leaked forever, was dismantled and re-constructed. The group conducted a 3-day Vacation Bible School at a new outreach location for the Unidos en Cristo church. The program was rounded out with puppets, crafts, games and a lot of love. Sister Diana did the lesson since it an outreach of her church. It is always a blessing to work with her. The themes were creation and salvation. She will be starting a “Good New” program for the neighborhood children using the VBS as a springboard. Some friendship building took place through the 2nd international Pioneer vs Mexico soccer match. Although it was mostly “gringos vs Mexicans”, there was definitely crossing of national and cultural lines. I don’t remember the score and it really doesn’t matter. I enjoyable time was had by all the players.подаръци

The Serenity House Roof is Sheeted.

Today the international team (Canada, France, US, Mexico) finished the sheeting for the roof of the Serenity House. We are planning to have the metal roofing material soon and complete that portion of the project. Meanwhile on the first floor all of the grid for the drop ceiling is in place and ready to be leveled and lighting installed. Frenche and Luis are putting the apartment bathroom together now that the sewer system is connected to the city. God has been so awesome as we continue to move forward with the project. A Very Merry Christmas Indeed!!

I don’t think Bonnie and I could have asked for a more Blessed Christmas. The Lord allowed us to have all of our grandchildren with us in San Felipe for Christmas. Although our youngest son, Micah, and his wife Erika couldn’t join us for the holiday his children were able to come down and spend about a week playing with cousins. The children baked cookies one day and delivered them at different local merchants caroling as they went as well as caroling from the back of the pick-up. They were able to spend an afternoon at the “Casa de Fe” orphanage playing with the children there. We hosted a Christmas Eve dinner for our Mexican and biological family with about 32 in attendance. Dinner was followed by opening a gift Bonnie had arranged for each and every person. THANK YOU LORD!!

Serenity House Continues Towards Completion

It is exciting to see the walls being stood up on the second floor in preparation for the roof structure. Meanwhile the plumber has finished all of the rough installation for the first floor and lines are “stubbed up” for the second floor. All of the second floor drainage system is installed and connected. The last of the downstairs electrical is being brought as far as it can be until the rest of the false ceiling is up downstairs. We pray that you will continue to rejoice with us as the Lord works His project.

Thanks-Giving Dinner for the Elderly

On November 30th 99 Plus 1 hosted a dinner program for the elderly of San Felipe. It was an awesome event with 90+ guests and about half of that number were over 70 years of age. Tito and Daniel conducted a puppet show proving that we are all kids regardless of age. Daniel Roldan was the master of ceremony for the event and when asking our guest for information we discovered we had three guests over 90. Our Serenity House resident, Don Jose was the oldest at 96 years young. One lady had 42 grandchildren. Turkey dinner had been prepared by many different people and then served to the guests by many of the same folks and many others from the American/Canadian community (some 35 volunteers came by to help serve). 99 Plus 1 expresses thanks to the volunteers of “Better Together”, DIF Municipal (social workers), Centro Salud (state medical team), the 99 Plus 1 staff, and many individuals that the Lord used to bring this event to be a Blessing for all involved whether guest of helper. One elderly lady commented that it was the first time someone had sponsored an event for the elderly that didn’t have a cover charge. The many hours of preparation were worth seeing the happy faces of so many of our senior citizens. One lady commented on leaving “The Lord repay you for your generosity.” I told her, “He already had and then some.”

Heritage and Christ Lutheran Combine For a Mission Trip.

Two churches from Odessa, WA formed one to come on their first mission trip. The group did a variety of tasks for the Serenity house project including painting the beds that had just been completed by Brother Bud. They wired in the outlets in the caregiver apartment portion of the building, dug in the two electrical feed pipes from the street meters to the building and cleaned out the area in between the two building in order to re-inventory material stored there as well as to prepare for a rain barrier channel.
When not working on the Serenity House some of the ladies of the group joined by Mary Raymond and Nancy Siron completed sewing together 50 bags to be used for the November 30th event being hosted for the elderly of San Felipe. The group also helped host a birthday party for on the children of the Casa de Fe Orphanage and a four day Bible School for children at the 99 Plus 1 facilities. The younger members of the group were able to be part of the puppet portion of the “escuelita” as well as helping with the crafts.

House of the Lord Mission Trip

The House of the Lord Church from Priest River, ID made it’s first mission trip to San Felipe this year. The team consisted of two families with servants hears. They helped to do our first ever Bible School at the Casa de Fe orphanage in Ejido Plan Nacional Agrarrio inviting neighborhood children to come and participate in the activities at the orphanage facilities. At the Serenity House they were busy doing several jobs including sealing all of the tile on the first floor. They tied the rebar for the bond beam of the second floor and in addition to working with the steel they also worked with wood as well by helping to close in the opening to the second story and installed the ceiling in the apartment portion of the first floor to be ready for the plumber and electrician.

Serenity House Progress Continues

It is a beautiful thing indeed to report that the Serenity House is moving forward at a quick pace and it seems that a end of year opening date is even more of a reality, Lord Willing. While John is away on the “Vancouver 2 Vancouver” walk, Bonnie continues to make progress on the building. The 1-story roof is now complete. The men have gotten the primer coats on all of the care-giver apartment walls and the tiling has begun. The materials (lumber and sheetrock) for the ceiling have been ordered and paid for and will be delivered as we need them. Rejoice with us as the Lord uses many hands apart from ours to move the project forward in His timing and for His purposes. GOD is GOOD!иконописikoni

Walking Prayers, Please

Please pray for Monica (our daughter) and I (John) as we walk from Vancouver, CA to Vancouver, WA. It is a “fun” walk not to raise money (although it won’t be refused either). Pray for our sense of direction, map reading, and of course health and safety. We have completed the first 50 miles out of the anticipated 300 (mas o menos). Meet the newest Serenity House Resident

We would like you to meet the latest addition to the Serenity House residents. Jose Chavez Fajardo came by way of the state social workers. Jose is 96 years old and was living alone on the beach downtown. A local fisherman had been providing food for him in return for “guarding” his boat. Care givers, Juaqin and Lupita, had approached Jose a few months ago about coming but he declined. He is a real joyful man with a sparkle of love in his eyes. He came to San Felipe at the age of 90 to see about a job fishing.

What this means is that the old “girl’s dorm” is now been re-modeled into the “Youth Room” (with residents of 84, 87, and now 96). The Lord has also provided a personal “attention giver” to help Juaqin and Lupita in the daily care. Jose Luis, the attention giver” comes from the San Luis, Sonora area where he developed a passion for working with the elderly when he spent 15 years taking care of his father. He has been a blessing for us and to the gentlemen on which he is lavishing attention. Jose Luis also has talents in auto body repair, painting and a few other areas which will come in handy for the ministry.икониПравославни икониикони на светци
